SHADOW BOARD SUPERHERO SYMBOLS

Search for pictures of Superhero symbols on the internet. Once you have found the ones you want, print them off, cut them out and stick them onto card.

Cut out the pieces that need to be exposed to light in order to show the features of the symbol (here, I have cut out the eyes). Then laminate.

You will need a Photoluminescent Board. You can buy large sheets of Photoluminescent Board on the Internet or you can buy smaller ones from Amazon.

You will also need a UV/blacklight torch which you can buy from Amazon.

Place the symbol on the board and shine the UV torch over the top then pull the symbol away to see the shadow it has made. Then make the shadow disappear by shining the torch over the shadow.

(Use your Photoluminescent Board in low lighting)

Magical Autumn YouTube Videos

Here are two fabulous Autumn videos from YouTube that you can use to create a magical Autumnal environment in your sensory room. Glow In The Dark Sensory Art

Add different coloured florescent paint to water beads for a very effective sensory room art activity. This can get messy so make sure you have a plastic sheet down as the water beads bounce everywhere. I dropped the paint-covered water beads on to black paper in a large plastic storage box. The beads make a lovely sound when they hit the bottom & bounce all over the paper.

This would make a great art activity if you were replicating the work of Jackson Pollock.

If your classroom topic was themed around the weather, you could add fluorescent blue paint to your beads, when they hit the paper the beads would pitter-patter like the sound of rain, whilst creating lots of little blue raindrops.

This sensory activity could but adapted to suit any theme with a little imagination…I think the final picture in the video looks like a field of Spring flowers.
