St Patrick’s Day Music and Movement Session for Wheelchair Users
This St Patrick’s Day music and movement session for wheelchair users has been written for children and young people with complex learning needs, PMLD and physical disabilities. It provides a clear structure for dancers and their partners to follow as they move together through Irish music, magic and celebration. From weaving through clover fields and sneaking like leprechauns to chasing the rainbow and digging for gold, each section introduces a different assisted wheelchair movement. These vestibular and rhythmic movements are important for many of our learners, who may not always have the opportunity to experience them in a fun, shared way. The session finishes with a shared celebration, dancing together, followed by a calm close to support regulation before the next part of the day.
