About Sensory Soup

Hello and welcome to Sensory Soup! I’m Katie, and for 18 years I worked in special education, supporting children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Over the years, I developed a deep love for sensory learning and a special passion for working with children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

I created Sensory Soup to share that passion, designing adaptable, sensory-rich activity plans that can be tailored to the unique needs, interests, and abilities of the children and young people you support and care for. Each activity includes ideas for sensory items (when needed) that are easy to source, making experiences enjoyable for learners and a joy for you to share with them.

Alongside my growing collection of resources, you’ll find a free blog filled with extra ideas, tips, and inspiration, plus the Sensory Directory, which highlights amazing websites and people who share my passion for making a real difference in the world of SEND.

Sensory Soup is all about imagination, creativity, connection, and the joy of learning through the senses. I hope my resources will inspire you further in creating fun and meaningful sensory experiences that you and your learners will love being part of together.

FANTASTIC

November 26, 2025

Sensory Soup is a fantastic resource that offers invaluable support for those working with children who have complex needs. Katie, the creator, has developed a range of materials that are easy to access and save valuable time.

The resources are user-friendly and, when paired with easily obtainable everyday items, allow us to get started quickly. We have had a lot of fun and some beautiful responses from the children and young people during the sessions.

Happy with 4 downloads per month as we enjoy using the same resource many times.

Such wonderful resources on this site. The activities are pitched at the perfect level, they are engaging and the communication aids included with the activities allow my young people to more fully engage with the activities.

Response from Sensory Soup

Hi Michelle, thank you so much for leaving a 5-star review. It means a lot to know the activities are pitched just right and that your learners are enjoying them. I’m so glad the communication aids are helping your young people join in more fully too, fantastic! Love, Katie at Sensory Soup 🙂

What a fantastic website. Resources are amazing. Unfortunently 5 a month is not enough at all for teachers so i have requested to cancel. 5 a week would be beneficial when we do so many subjects a day . Such a shame as the resources are fab

Response from Sensory Soup

Thank you so much for your lovely and honest feedback. I’m so glad you love the website and resources. I completely understand that five downloads a month may not suit everyone, and your thoughts really help me as I plan future updates. I’ve emailed you privately too :))

Love,

Katie at Sensory Soup
